The new childcare centre at Kenepuru is complete

Following a pōwhiri on 19 February, the stunning kōwhai yellow Early Childhood Education (ECE) building at Kenepuru Landing was officially opened.

This is the first vertical new-build by Toa Developments at Kenepuru Landing and will cater for up to 80 tamariki.

The centre is one of several planned buildings in Kenepuru's 'Central Precinct', which once complete, will serve as a vibrant community hub for the 700-home subdivision.  This project is a major step forward in the rejuvenation of the whenua from it's former use as a place that cared for the unwell, to a place where a new community can thrive.

The architectural response of the building acknowledges the prominent landscape feature - Rangituhi maunga, to the west. The roofs' gable form traces the maunga opposite, with the undulating ridges and valleys captured in the faceted louvres. The vibrant kōwhai yellow cladding emphasises the building as both a beacon for the area while also referencing the 'sky glow' at sunset.

TDL would like to acknowledge the excellent mahi of Miles Construction, collaborating with multiple Iwi trades and suppliers to deliver this substantial commercial project on time and under budget.  Of course, this project wouldn't be possible without the commitment made by tenant Deep & Roopa Singh of Lil' Champs - www.lilchamps.co.nz/kenepuru-landing

A huge mihi to all involved!
