Waitohi - Resource Consent Submission

An important milestone has been reached for this Toa Developments project. After several years of planning and investigation, a Resource Consent application has now been lodged for a proposed development at Hagley Street, Porirua.

The proposal retains and adapts the former Porirua police station building, while extending into the land to the west. Securing Resource Consent will help us better understand the site's development potential as we continue to assess our long-term commercial property needs across the city. The Rūnanga Board will consider a range of options once the Resource Consent process is complete.

Our kaumātua have named the proposed building Waitohi, in honour of Te Rauparaha’s sister, a respected rangatira in her own right.

Located opposite Te Rauparaha Arena, the proposed development occupies a site that was once a rocky foreshore outcrop where Ngāti Toa gathered kaimoana from Te Awarua-o-Porirua. The design also draws inspiration from the historic fortified pā, Te Uriukāhika.

Toa Developments acknowledges and thanks the many specialists and consultants who have contributed their expertise to reaching this milestone:
Tennent Brown Architects, Dunning Thornton Consultants, 2PiR Consulting, Harrison Grierson, LT McGuiness, Traffic Concepts, Tonkin + Taylor, NDY,
Barnes Shearer, Ortus.

Kia ora, ngā mihi nui ki a koutou mō te mahi pai kua oti i tēnei rōpū kaupapa i tēnei wā.
